Moscow Lokomotiv did not want to reckon with the status of a noteworthy outsider in the confrontation with Zenit. The guests from the capital in the first half gave the fans hope for a favorable outcome of the confrontation with the champion. After the break, it was not possible to keep the opponent. Maxim Nenakhov tried to stop the Brazilians who were playing out, but as a result he collapsed on the lawn.

The central match of the third round, which took place with the participation of Zenit and Lokomotiv in St. Petersburg, was supposed to answer the question: are the railway workers in their current form capable of seriously imposing a fight on the main favorite of the season?
