The press service of Dynamo Moscow issued a statement on the transfer of defender Guillermo Varela to the Brazilian Flamengo.
The Uruguayan suspended the contract with the Moscow club, using the FIFA option, and signed an agreement with Flamengo.
– On July 25, Uruguayan defender Guillermo Varela informed our club of the suspension of the contract for the 2022/23 season unilaterally. This happened after the player’s failure to appear at the club’s location on July 24, on the day of the Russian championship game against Torpedo.
We at Dynamo are convinced that healthy business relations between clubs should always be based on mutual respect. We consider it unacceptable and unacceptable when individual clubs persuade players to terminate or suspend existing employment contracts. In such cases, we reserve the right to defend our interests in international sports institutions,” Dynamo said in a statement.
Varela’s current contract with Dynamo runs until June 30, 2023. Last season, the 29-year-old football player played 24 matches in the Russian championship, made two assists.
