England women’s football team beat Germany in European Championship final
England beat Germany in extra time in the final of the Women’s European Football Championship.
The meeting, held at Wembley, ended with a score of 2:1. Ella Thun and Chloe Kelly scored goals for the English team, while Lina Magull scored for the Germans.

For the English team, this is the first European title in history. Previously, the best result of the England team at the tournament was the second place, at the 2015 World Cup, the English won bronze. The German team has won the European Championship eight times.
England coach Sarina Wigman led the Netherlands to victory in the European Championship in 2017.
The Russian team was suspended from participation in the tournament due to the situation in Ukraine.
