Former Roma and Lokomotiv midfielder Sergei Gurenko believes that Alexei Miranchuk has done enough to get into the main team of Atalanta, but for some reason, the team’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini does not trust the player.
According to Italian media, the 26-year-old Russian midfielder is close to moving to Torino on loan with an option to buy.
– In my opinion, Miranchuk did enough to play in the first team of Atalanta. As a substitute, he regularly scored important goals and provided assists. But, unfortunately, he never received a vote of confidence from Gian Piero Gasperini. Obviously, Alexei needed to change something, after all, he was in Bergamo for two years. And I can not say that he spent this time fruitlessly. The Russian has always been in the cage, but did not get too much time.
I think he made the right decision. He is only 26 years old and requires regular playing practice. I would like him to fully realize his talent. If it didn’t work in one place, why not try in another. It’s better to move forward than to wait for the weather by the sea, ”RT Gurenko quotes.
In the 2021/22 season, Miranchuk made 25 appearances for Atalanta in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists. The Russian moved to the Italian team from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2020.
