Olympic high jump champion Maria Lasitskene does not consider herself an expert in football, but she enjoys watching the game of the defender of Spartak and the Russian national team Georgy Jikia, whom she jokingly calls “Adzhika”.

Lasitskene told why she does not go on television as a football expert.

“I’m a level zero expert, so I don’t want to embarrass myself. Once I went to CSKA TV, to the program “On Horses” (Lasitskene is a fan of CSKA). But I really don’t understand. I like the atmosphere at the stadium, when everyone is chanting and applauding with one voice. It’s energizing, it’s great. People need to express their emotions.

Beautiful goal – great. Beautifully defended the gate — cool. I admire how Adjika fights for the national team. This is how I call George Jikia in “football” conversations with my husband (laughs). Just don’t let George be offended, I respect you. He is cool. Fell, got up, ran, fell, got up, ran. He defended himself like a real defender. “I defended myself like a defender”… This is my expertise,” RIA Novosti Sport quoted Lasitskene as saying.
