“If VAR in Azerbaijan is the same as in Russia, then I am against it” – Murad Musaev
The head coach of the Azerbaijani “Sabah” Murad Musayev, in an interview with “Match TV”, spoke about the work of the video replay system at the matches of the Russian championship, and also explained why he opposed the introduction of the system in the championship of Azerbaijan.
– When I left the Russian VAR, I just breathed a sigh of relief (laughs). We watch every moment, even the one that the birds flying over the stadium see and understand that everything is clean there. It takes 4-5 minutes for repetitions, who needs this? With this system, there is twice as much talk about refereeing, because moments are interpreted as they want.
There was good old football without VAR in Azerbaijan for half a year, I was glad. And then they gathered us and said that they were implementing this system. I said that if VAR is the same as in Russia, then I am against the fact that I am ready to play without it, although there were many scoring mistakes in our direction, and with VAR we would have had a better result. As a result, we had two test matches – everyone looked clearly and quickly. He said that if everything remains like this, there are no problems – I’m all for it, ”Musaev said.
Musaev coached Krasnodar from 2018 to 2021, twice became the bronze medalist of the RPL. The 38-year-old Russian has been working at Sabah since last autumn.
