The head coach of the Yekaterinburg “Ural” Igor Shalimov said he was ready to leave the post due to the unsatisfactory results of the team, noting that he would meet with the club’s management on Monday.
On Saturday, Ural lost at home to Spartak with a score of 0:2 in the fourth round of the Russian Championship. For Yekaterinburg, this defeat was the fourth in a row, the team did not score a single point in the new season of the WORLD RPL and occupies the last place in the standings.
– The results (of the match) are bad. They “brought” goals for themselves. In the second half, we had to take risks, switched to a scheme with four defenders, released the second striker. We understood that the risk was high. The state in which Spartak is located … They used the chances. We were lucky they didn’t score the third goal. They gave us chances. Eric (Bikfalvi) had a moment, they could have made 1:2. Let’s see what would happen next.
The result is unsatisfactory, four defeats. Everything is bad so far.
Maybe it’s time to retire?
– We will decide. I think everything will be clear on Monday. What started like that? Last season ended quite brightly, an unexpected start, it is not clear. In the “pre-season” nothing foreshadowed such an unsuccessful start. It is what it is. I think something will happen on Monday.
Are you mentally ready for this (leaving)?
“Four games, zero points, I’m ready, we’ll meet with the management on Monday, we’ll see,” Shalimov said at a press conference.
Shalimov headed Ural in August 2021, signing a two-year contract. Last season, the “bumblebees” took 12th place in the RPL and retained their registration in the top division of Russian football.
