Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney spoke out on the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo. In recent weeks, the media have been actively discussing the possible departure of the Portuguese from the club.
“I think Manchester United should let Ronaldo go. I’m not saying he can’t play on this team, he can play anywhere. But it seems to me that the current Manchester United is not yet capable of fighting for the title. We must set a goal to build a team that can potentially win in 3-4 years. This requires a plan.
If Ronaldo really wants to leave, Manchester United should let him do it and find a nine that will be at the club for the next 3-4 seasons and help the team succeed, said Rooney.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals and provided 3 assists in 37 matches for Manchester United in the 2021/22 season. The player’s contract with the club is valid until June 30, 2023.
