Ten Hag explains Ronaldo’s absence from starting XI against Brighton
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed why Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the team’s starting lineup for the first round match of the Premier League against Brighton.
The Dutch specialist left the Portuguese striker in reserve for the game, which takes place on Sunday in Manchester. Newcomers Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez entered the field from the first minutes.
Ronaldo is working very hard to reach the right level of fitness, it will take time. He started training for the season last week. It all depends on how fast it progresses,” BBC journalist Shamoun Hafez quotes ten Hag on social networks.
According to media reports, Ronaldo had previously expressed a desire to leave the club in the summer transfer window in order to play in the Champions League.
