Never On Friday, April 1, the draw took place at Doha Convention and Exhibition Centre, it was defined that Hosts Qatar and Ecuador to open 2022 World Cup. However, the FIFA decided to change and make another calendar official, like that the game that would kick off the Middle East Cup would be Senegal vs. Netherlands.
Therefore, with the amendments, the first day of World Cup activity, Monday 21 November, then and until now was as follows:
- Group A: Senegal v Netherlands – 1:00 p.m.
- Group B: England v Iran – 4:00 p.m.
- Group A: Qatar vs Ecuador – 7:00pm
- Group B: United States vs. EUR – 10:00 p.m.
All times are local time
However, it now looks like there has been a reverse gear with the curtain-raiser and that wouldn’t be the only change, as the date would also be moved to a day earlier. Thus, and cleaning, Qatar vs. Ecuador would be the opening match, but on Sunday 20 November.
What were the opening matches of the World Cups?
Throughout the history of World Cups, different criteria have been used to start each tournament, for example in Uruguay 1930 two games were played simultaneously: France defeated Mexico 4–1 and the United States beat Belgium 3–0. In Italy in 1934 they disputed 8 games at once, in an event that had a playoff format. as in France in 1938, but Switzerland and Germany started a day before the others, and drew 1–1 (a match that had to be replayed to equalize and in which the Swiss won 4–2).
After the unfortunate interruption of the competition due to the Second World War, the resumption of the World Cup had its initial kick in the 1950 Brazil Cup with the local thrashing of Mexico 4-0. four games unanimously opened four years later the tournament played in Switzerland and eight were played on the opening day of Sweden 1958, although the one that pitted the locals against Mexico was played a few hours before the rest. In Chile 1962 the first day of the match had 4 ties simultaneously and in England 1966 and Mexico 1970, the hosts opened the match against Uruguay and the Soviet Union respectively.
From its version Federal Germany 1974 v South Korea – Japan 2002, the host responsible for starting the World Cup was the champion of the previous tournamentwhile from Germany in 2006 to Russia in 2018 he was the local who started the tournament.
