“Cherchesov is just a megamind!” Over the Russian coach laugh after the failure in the Champions League
But Stanislav Salamovich is not so to blame for the relegation of the club.
When Stanislav Cherchesov’s Ferencvaros played a draw with Qarabag (1:1) on the road, it seemed that this was an excellent result. Especially if you remember how that meeting developed: Qarabag pressed for most of the match and had several good chances to win. The Hungarians were sure that things would be different at home.
However, everything from the very beginning did not go according to plan and ended in a real shame. Now Cherchesov is mercilessly ridiculed for his defeat.
He is guilty, of course, but he is not guilty.
Hit below the belt
Already in the 7th minute of the match, Ferencvaros brought himself a goal. The defender made an unsuccessful pass back and provoked the exit of three attacking players of “Karabakh” against one player of his team. As a result, Abdellah Zubir struck a sharp blow from the goalkeeper’s corner, which the goalkeeper could not cope with. Yes, the ball went into the near corner, but the speed of the ball was too high to react.
Such a start is always a low blow. You go out with extreme motivation and a desire to solve everything as soon as possible, and then you suddenly get an extremely offensive ball into your own net. After that, the Hungarians were in shock for some time. Then the hosts still created a few chances, but failed to realize them.
In the second half, Qarabag began to take advantage of the fact that Ferencvaros was exposing the rear. Cherchesov’s team was actively attacking, trying to win back, but completely forgot about defense. As a result, two quick attacks turned into a double Ibrahim Vadzhi. The Senegalese scored the second goal, by the way, from the transfer of the pupil of “Zenith” Ramil Sheydayev.
Ferencváros was honored only with a goal of prestige. At the same time, Adama Traore repeated Zubir’s ball in many ways, except for the fact that the striker of the Hungarian team struck into the far corner, and not into the near one. After the final whistle, Cherchesov had to admit that the defeat was absolutely deserved.
– Today we could not show ourselves on the field. From the very beginning, we didn’t approach the match the way we should have, and it didn’t go the way we planned. We lost to a more dominant opponent, so it was a well-deserved defeat, – RBC quotes the Russian coach.
An object of ridicule
Ferencváros fans were rather apathetic on social media after the match. If you carefully examine the various accounts of the club on the Internet, it turns out that most of the comments belong to the fans of “Karabakh”. Some of them gloat, some wish the Hungarians success in the Europa League, and some for some reason run into the Russian sports media.
“It will be a hard day for the Russian media, because their favorite Cherchesov lost to Gurban Gurbanov,” writes Fuad Alakbarov.
Apparently, fans from Azerbaijan are annoyed by how actively Russian journalists support Cherchesov. However, we can be understood: Stanislav Salamych is one of the few Russians in European competition. In addition, Cherchesov is not immune from criticism. If it’s bad, then it’s bad.
The situation for Ferencváros is now extremely sad, and Cherchesov is responsible for it. On the one hand, he cannot control every step of his players, and if they bring a goal, it is their fault. But the coach is responsible for motivation, and it, apparently, was not enough. Or vice versa – too much.
On social networks, the Russian coach is mostly ridiculed. But the reactions are not as violent as one might expect after such a defeat. For example, there were no calls to fire Cherchesov on the Internet.
– It is extremely difficult to take third place in the Champions League group. So Ferencváros chose the easiest way. Cherchesov is just a megamind! jokes journalist Tomasz Mortimer.
– Cherchesov, this is not the World Cup, where the Russian team was allowed by the right of the owner, this is the Champions League! – mocks the user under the nickname pervin_hs1224.
– Cherchesov: -) PHAHAHAHAHAHA, – concludes badb0y_xpp.
Ahead of Ferencváros is the final round of the Europa League qualification. At the moment, the Hungarians have two potential rivals – the Macedonian “Shkupi” and the Scottish “Shamrock Rovers”. In any case, Cherchesov’s team looks like a favorite. I would like to believe that after this confrontation they will not laugh at the Russian coach.
