But the incredibly stupid act of the defender of the most titled team in the Netherlands is simply amazing in its absurdity. Such a penalty is impossible to see even in match-fixing.

Ajax Amsterdam successfully started the new season of the Dutch football championship last weekend. The most titled team in the country had a great trip to the modest Sittard, starting with a victory in the defense of the championship. But the double of the capital club, which plays one league lower, cannot boast of the same brilliant results.

The youth of “God’s sons” scored only one point in two starting matches. But the position of the team from the capital of the Netherlands in the table could be better. In the Friday match, the double of Ajax met on the road with the team of Roda. In this meeting, the capital’s players could well take away at least one point, but the unexpected act of the team’s defender Kik Piri crossed out the hopes of the guests for a positive result.

In the middle of the second half, during the attack of “Rhoda”, the goalkeeper of the away team fixed the ball after the opponent’s hit and quickly put it back into the game. It was after this moment that something incredible happened in the match. Piri, who was next to the goalkeeper, instead of handling the ball slowly rolling towards him, took it in his hands and put it on the corner of the goalkeeper’s area.

Absolutely all the participants of the match were shocked by what happened on the field. The ball did not leave the field, there were no violations of the rules. Confused forwards of “Rhoda” literally shrugged their shoulders and turned to the judge with a puzzled look.

The goalkeeper of Ajax turned out to be the most perspicacious in this moment. With acting of this level, instead of football, you can think about filming in films. He showed with all his appearance that nothing had happened and, in general, it was planned that way. He just asked the defender to return the ball back.

But the referee, to the dismay of the players, did not buy into this trick. He appointed a penalty, which the hosts successfully implemented. Spectators saw no more goals in this match. After the final whistle, Roda acquired three important points, and Ajax understudies bogged down even deeper at the bottom of the standings.

“It’s a real team effort”

The act of the defender of the capital’s team defies logical explanation. You will not see this even in contractual matches of third-rate African leagues. But the footballer’s explanation makes one doubt his adequacy at that fateful moment of the match. The player literally imagined something that was not really there.

“I thought the whistle had blown, so I figured we should throw a free kick. I told the goalkeeper, “I’ll take him.” That’s why I took it in hand. There was no whistle, but I was sure there was one. It’s just very stupid,” the football player said in a post-match interview with ESPN.

At the same time, one must understand that the half-empty stands of the stadium in Kerkrade did not create much noise. The referee’s whistle was clearly audible, but it only sounded after Peary had touched the ball. Up to this point, the silence was broken only by occasional cries from the audience.

All participants of the strange match did not hide their surprise at the act of the defender of the capital’s team. The Roda players couldn’t believe their luck even after the match.

“In that penalty situation, I thought I was hallucinating, because it was really unusual,” Dylan Wente quoted the official Rhoda social media account as saying.

– Of course, we were lucky with this penalty. But we could have scored more. I’m happy with the result, once again, because it’s a real team effort! – Terrence Douglas, left-back of the hosts, rejoiced at the victory.

It is a pity that the Nigerian footballer did not specify whose club it was the teamwork that helped the “black-and-yellows” complete the meeting in their favor. For Piri, the main thing now is not to despair, but to endure a difficult moment in his career with dignity.
