Barcelona did not decipher Rayo’s defense. The culé team tried it, but between the strong defense plus the performance of the Macedonian goalkeeper Dmitrievsky gownprevented from celebrating any goal and in turn, the first win of the 2022-2023 La Liga season.
At Camp Nou with all its artillery (including its stars Robert Lewandowski and Rafinha), those led by Xavi Hernandez displayed an attacking game that featured both the Brazilian and Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, who came in from the left wing to both assist and finish.
Little by little the game tilted in the home side’s favor and that’s when the strip keeper started to take center stage as his team continued to play against.
In the second half, they entered Frenkie De Jong and Ansu Fati. The former refreshed the midfield and the latter was more visible than his teammate Rafinha (whom he replaced), managing to finish on a few occasions but finding good answers from Dimitrievsky.

In the aftermath of the meeting, Midfielder Sergio Busquets received a second caution and then a red card elbowed Radamel Falcao, who minutes later scored, but his play was disallowed for advanced position. The points were shared in Catalonia at the start of a big season for the Blaugrana.
