Oleksiy had a great start at Torino, but was out for a month due to an injury. Very untimely!
The debut of Alexei Miranchuk in the new club turned out to be ambiguous. On the one hand, the midfielder scored a good goal and generally had a great time on the field for 45 minutes. He found non-standard solutions, handed out sharp passes, turned on the pressure in time … On the other side of the scale – a replacement after the first half due to an injury to the back of the thigh.
On the eve it became known that Miranchuk was out for a month. To be in the infirmary at a time when you need to play regularly and prove your worth is very insulting and untimely. And this is not the first time in the career of a Russian.
Just monstrous bad luck!
More serious than it seemed
Miranchuk was injured at the very beginning of the match. It was evident that he sometimes holds on to the back of the thigh, but continues to play. Actually, even Alexei scored his own ball with damage. It is not surprising that Torino head coach Ivan Yurich decided to replace his newcomer during the break.

At first, everyone agreed that nothing terrible had happened. Yurich claimed that Miranchuk simply “pulled a muscle”, and Artyom Ryzhenko, a medical expert and doctor of the Amkal team, predicted in his Telegram channel that Alexei would “miss one or two workouts at most.” However, the injury turned out to be more serious than expected. The examination revealed a real sprain in the midfielder. Recovery from such an injury usually takes about a month, and here Miranchuk can only sympathize.
sad tradition
Unfortunately, it has already become a tradition for Alexei to get injured at the most crucial moments. Of course, no one blames the footballer himself for this, but the pattern is very unpleasant. Recall at least the transition to Atalanta: Miranchuk moved to the Italian club with a hamstring injury, which he received back in the RPL, in a match against Spartak. Due to the injury, Alexei missed most of the preparatory training and therefore joined the squad for a very long time, at first he hardly played.
Something similar happened last season. Due to injuries to the leaders of Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini trusted Miranchuk and began to release him at the start. Only now Alexei could not take advantage of the chance – he got injured again and dropped out for several weeks. When the Russian returned to duty, everyone was already healthy, and he had to take his place on the bench again.
Alas, history repeats itself. Miranchuk scores again in the opening and is again forced to miss games. Who knows what will change at Torino in the coming month? It may very well be that Yurich will find the optimal combination of players in attack, and Alexey will no longer be so necessary. Moreover, our midfielder’s competitors are Nikola Vlašić himself, who, with all due respect to Miranchuk, has always been a more assertive and angry player, and this is highly valued in Serie A.
So Miranchuk’s career at Torino, which looked like a salvation from stagnation, is now in question. I would like to believe that Alexey will return and win a place in the starting lineup. But it will be much more difficult.
