Ilya Gerkus, director of strategic development at Torpedo, called the invitation of Alexander Kerzhakov to the post of head coach of the team a priority option in the event of his own appointment as president of the club.
“Torpedo” in five rounds of the WORLD RPL scored one point and takes 15th place in the standings. On Wednesday, Match TV became aware that the team was trained by Andrey Karyaka, while head coach Alexander Borodyuk was absent from the lesson. According to “Match TV”, the main candidate for the post of head coach of the “black and white” is Alexander Kerzhakov. According to media reports, Herkus may replace Denis Maslov as president of the club.
– Promotion? Not true. They probably say yes. But I didn’t hear anything. Have you changed the head coach? I heard about it, read about it. But I do not know. I don’t know anything at all. I’m not invited to the board of directors. Alexander Kerzhakov will be the head coach? No. Everything is possible. Maybe you will appoint a coach, I don’t know.
I honestly don’t know. There are some movements. In telegrams, everyone knows, but I don’t know.
Am I ready to lead Torpedo and be responsible for the result? It’s too early to talk about it. Decisions are made by the board of directors. We theoretically discussed the possibility. I think we should wait until tomorrow. Sergei Sharonov will be the sports director? I didn’t hear that for sure. Did we sit with him at the match? We just watched football, he is my friend.
If they appoint me, will I call Kerzhakov? There are different options if I am appointed. Of course, Kerzhakov will be considered a priority. But there are other candidates as well. Several candidates will be considered by people who make decisions,” Herkus told RB Sport.
