Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov told Match TV that the successful performance of amateur teams in the first round of the FONBET Cup of Russia may indicate that the border between them and the Second League has been partially erased.

The format of the Russian Cup in the 2022/23 season has changed. 10 amateur clubs and 14 Second League teams play in the first round. Four amateur teams – Moscow “Amkal” and 2DROTS, Barnaul “Temp” and “StavropolAgroSoyuz” from Nevinnomyssk – advanced to the second round.
