Ex-football player of CSKA Popov appointed head coach of “Ufa”

Ufa announced the appointment of Denis Popov as the team’s head coach, the club’s press service reports.

The term of the contract with the 43-year-old specialist is not specified. Together with Popov, coach-analyst Viktor Testoedov entered the team headquarters. Popov replaced Sergei Tomarov, who returned to work as the head of the Ufa school.

Previously, Popov was a member of the coaching staff of Sergei Yuran at Khimki and SKA-Khabarovsk, and headed SKA Rostov. As a player, Popov played for the Novorossiysk Chernomorets, Moscow CSKA and Torpedo, Kuban, Khimki.

At the end of last season, Ufa was relegated from the RPL to the second strongest division of Russian football. After five rounds, the Ufa club is in 10th place in the MELBET First League table with 7 points.
