Rooney: Ten Hagu shouldn’t let Cristiano Ronaldo play against Liverpool

Former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney advised the team’s head coach Eric ten Hag not to let forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford on the field in the match of the 3rd round of the Premier League with Liverpool.

Ronaldo and Rashford played two games for Manchester United in the 2022/23 season, but did not score.

“I wouldn’t play with Cristiano Ronaldo and I wouldn’t play with Marcus Rashford. If I were in the place of ten Hag, my main concern would be to see the energy on the field.

And Manchester United’s failure to sign the centre-forward means they relied on Ronaldo against Brentford, even though he had little training with the team. He looked like he needed time to get back in shape.

If Manchester United play Liverpool in the same way as Brentford, the result will be even worse than last year’s 0:5. I don’t think this will happen again. But I can’t imagine that Manchester United will win. It seems to me that the team will react and lose because of a curious goal, or maybe even catch on for a draw, ”the ex-striker Rooney wrote in a column in The Times.

The match between Manchester United and Liverpool will take place on August 22 and will start at 22:00 Moscow time.
