“Spartak” was very lucky that under Fedun the club had almost no financial problems, said Cherchesov

The head coach of Ferencvaros, Stanislav Cherchesov, believes that under Leonid Fedun, Spartak had almost no financial problems and the club was very lucky with this.

On August 22, the Lukoil oil company announced the acquisition of a 100% stake in the Otkritie Bank Arena club and stadium. It was announced that Fedun resigned as president, member and chairman of the board of directors of Spartak in connection with his withdrawal from the club’s shareholders.

– Spartak was very lucky that, under the leadership of Leonid Fedun, the club practically did not know financial problems and could calmly plan its activities and develop effectively. A handsome stadium, an academy is an asset for years for the future generation of red-whites. It is clear that the fans have always expected and will continue to expect maximum results from the club, but here a lot depended not only on the management, but also on the coaches and players.

For my part, I can emphasize that we have always been and, I hope, will continue to be open in communication, regardless of what position we take on this or that issue. And Leonid Arnoldovich’s support for me as a coach of the Russian national team is worth a lot. I wish Fedun and his family good luck. There is no doubt that he will always remain a loyal fan of Spartak, Cherchesov told the Championship.

Fedun acquired a controlling stake in Spartak in 2004, since that moment the team won the Russian Championship (2017), won the silver of the national championship six times, won the Cup (2022) and the Super Cup (2017) of the country. This season, Spartak is in second place in the RPL WORLD table, gaining 13 points after six rounds.

Cherchesov worked at Spartak as head coach in 2007–2008, winning silver with the team.

Tsyganyk stated that the football player could really be transferred to Dnieper and noted that they made him an offer in the first place. According to the journalist, in the event of such a transfer, Kobin could even play in the 2015 Europa League final, but ultimately the transfer did not take place.

The journalist emphasized that the failure of the transition was not related to financial conditions. According to his information, salaries in Shakhtar and Dnepr were approximately the same. The reasons why the transfer did not take place lie on a different level, but the details of this situation are not reliably known.

According to Tsyganik, Dnepr considered Kobin as a priority option, but the transition was never implemented. Artem Fedetsky played for Dnepr from 2012 to 2016. In the 2014/15 Europa League final, Dnepr lost to the Spanish team Sevilla (2:3).
