Manchester City and France defender Benjamin Mendy could be sentenced to life in prison for eight counts of rape and one attempted rape, according to Spain’s Marca.
In the Chester Crown Court, where the case is being heard, one of the victims said that the French footballer raped her three times at home, despite a promise not to do this. A witness, who was also at Mendy’s mansion at the time, said that when the girl left the room, she “looked like she had seen a ghost.”
Initially, Mendy was threatened with 5 to 20 years in prison, after the testimony of witnesses and additional charges, the player could face a life sentence.
The alleged crimes were committed at Mendy’s mansion between October 2018 and August 2021.
