Vasily Konov, Deputy General Producer of Match TV, announced the intention of the TV channel to make a profit from buying the rights to show FONBET matches of the Russian Cup.
Earlier, Match TV signed an agreement with the Russian Football Union (RFU), according to which all games of the tournament will be broadcast on the holding’s resources.
– When we took part in the tender for the acquisition of the rights to the Cup of Russia, we were aware that this was not the cheapest pleasure. In addition to money for the rights, we take on additional costs for the production and advertising of matches. It is incorrect to name specific amounts, but we are not talking about 100,000 or even 500,000 rubles, we are investing much more serious money. But we understand that premium Russian football at the level of the Premier League and the Cup is worth it. Naturally, we do not intend to go into the red – we plan to make money on this, – Vedomosti quotes Konov.
The format of the Russian Cup in the 2022/23 season has changed. 10 amateur clubs and 14 Second League teams played in the first round. Four amateur teams – Moscow “Amkal” and 2DROTS, Barnaul “Temp” and “StavropolAgroSoyuz” from Nevinnomyssk – advanced to the second round.
