Karpin said he does not consider Fedun an iconic figure for Russian football
The head coach of Rostov and the Russian national team Valery Karpin commented on the decision of Leonid Fedun to step down as president of the Moscow club.
On August 22, Lukoil announced that it had acquired 100% of the club’s shares, as well as the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium. Fedun resigned as president, member and chairman of the board of directors of the Red-Whites in connection with his withdrawal from the club’s shareholders. He will not take part in the management of Spartak.
– I can’t comment on Fedun’s departure from Spartak. Gone and gone. His words about the “downed pilot”? Are you kidding me, what offense can I have? It’s all been said a million times.
For me, Fedun is not a significant figure for Russian football. Fedun and Fedun. Once again: well, he left and left – then what? He is well done for spending so many years and money together with Lukoil for Spartak. I am grateful to him that I spent so much time in Spartak. It’s personal.
Do I agree that Fedun won fewer trophies than he deserved? No idea, – Karpin is quoted by RB Sport.
Fedun acquired a controlling stake in Spartak in 2004. Under him, the team became the champion of Russia and the winner of the Super Cup in 2017, the owner of the Russian Cup-2022.
