“This is a big step in my career” – Cherchesov on a possible transfer of Zakharyan to Chelsea
Ferencváros head coach Stanislav Cherchesov reacted to the possible transfer of Dynamo midfielder Arsen Zakharyan to Chelsea.
Earlier it was reported that the negotiations of the clubs are at the final stage, the transfer amount may be 15 million euros, and Zakharyan himself will sign a contract until 2028.
— This is a status, a big step in a career. Another thing is that when I invite young or experienced players to Ferencvaros, we discuss his path in the team. We don’t know what role Arsene will play at Chelsea at first. If everything is planned and clear, then you need to take this step. Otherwise, the sign of the Premier League and Chelsea fits the definition of “Not all that glitters is gold.”
Will this level pull in terms of talent? He is capable. When he was 17 years old, I invited him to the national team. If not for the coronavirus, he would have been on the final list for the European Championship. And not just was, but, most likely, would have played. A player’s career should be planned, not jumping over steps. But this is a big step forward! – Cherchesov is quoted by “Championship”.
Zakharyan has been playing for the Dynamo main team since 2020, in just 52 matches he scored 13 goals and made 16 assists. At the end of last season, the midfielder was recognized as the best young player according to the RFU, in 2021 he received the Top Five award for the best young player in the RPL. Zakharyan has four matches for the Russian national team.
