“I see no obstacles for football to be at the next Spartakiad” – Matytsin
The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin said that he sees no obstacles for including football in the program of the next Spartakiad of the strongest.
“Russian football does not participate in the Games yet, but I see no obstacles for football to be at the next Spartakiad,” Matytsin said, answering a question from a Match TV correspondent.
The closing ceremony of the Games will be held on Monday in Moscow. Matytsin spoke about the goals of the competition, and also noted that the Games will not be open to foreigners.
– The Spartakiad will be held every four years, the day after the Olympic Games, in order to plan a new Olympic cycle. I saw a lot on it, the holiday took place, despite the skepticism of some. The strongest athletes competed at the competitions. I enjoy every victory in all sports.
Today, the goals and objectives of the Spartakiad are to look at the capabilities of our national teams. We are not talking about an open format, for this we have other competitions.
Any ceremony is a summing up, thoughts about the future. It is important that it takes place in Luzhniki, the Mecca of Russian sports. I am glad that Moscow has proposed such a format, it is the largest organizer of the Spartakiad, the Minister of Sports added.
