The head coach of Torpedo and the former coach of the youth team of Dynamo Nikolay Kovardaev spoke about the possible transfer of Arsen Zakharyan to Chelsea.
Earlier it was reported that the Blue and White received an offer from Chelsea to transfer the player. The Londoners plan to sign a contract with the Russian until 2028, the transfer amount may be 15 million euros. The Premier League transfer window will close on September 1st.
– You probably watched Zakharyan at the Dynamo Academy. How do you like the information about his move to Chelsea?
– At the academy, we did not intersect with him – I was a senior coach at Dynamo. But, of course, I saw him. I consider it a great success for Russian football when our player is invited to a top club. We must not refuse, but be sure to try this option. It’s fine.
– When you saw him three years ago, could you imagine that at the age of 19 he could go to a top club?
– Such progress, of course, was difficult to expect from a football player at that age, but he was too young even in the youth championship games. But even then, by one of his actions, one could say that he was a player, – Sport24 quotes Kovardaev.
At the end of last season, Zakharyan was recognized as the best young player according to the RFU, in 2021 he received the Top Five award for the best young player in the RPL.
