Another transfer saga involving a Russian free agent has ended. Denis Cheryshev left Valencia after the end of the contract and was looking for a new home for a long time.

The midfielder has dual citizenship, having spent all his football years in Spain. There were rumors that he would finally move to Russia closer to his father. But no, Denis will play in Europe again. Now he will try his hand in a neighboring country, in the Italian Serie B club “Venice”.

Denis is a graduate of Real Madrid. For the main team of the club, the Russian played seven matches and scored one goal, although Madrid belonged to 14 years. True, every now and then he went on loan: either to Sevilla, then to Villarreal, then to Valencia.

For the last two clubs, he played on an ongoing basis, and in Valencia he just finished the Spanish stage of his career. In 2022, Denis almost did not enter the field, having spent only 183 minutes in the game. There are reasons for this. Unfortunately, the midfielder has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and in Valencia they also did not bypass him. Most likely, this was the reason for the management’s decision not to renew the agreement with Cheryshev.

But we remember what Denis is capable of. During the home World Cup in 2018, he became one of the tournament’s top scorers, scoring as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Kylian Mbappe each have 4 goals. Therefore, it is quite possible that in the new environment Cheryshev will have a second wind.

Denis will not be able to feel the warmth of the reception at the stadium until September 3rd. On this day, Venice will host Benevento. In the meantime, Cheryshev is content with the reaction of fans on the Internet.
