Freiburg – Gladbach 0: 0: The stallions stop Olympiakos’ opponents
Freiburg were held to a clean sheet by Gladbach and lost their chance to top the table just days before their Europa League Group 2 game against Olympiakos
A huge chance to be the sole leader of the Bundesliga after six games was missed by Freiburg on Sunday afternoon (9 November).
Olympiakos’ next opponents for Europa League Groups Matchday 2 welcomed Gladbach, against whom they have an excellent home record (their home streak has been extended to 15 games in the league) but no team they could find on the net and the 0-0 rightly sealed the efforts of the footballers of both teams.
Christian Streich’s players were level on points for the first time in this year’s Bundesliga and climbed alone to second place in the table, at -1 in front of the now leaders Union (the 1-0 from Cologne had just been imposed), but also at +1 from the almighty Bayern von 10 consecutive conquests.
On the other hand, Daniel Farke’s side extended their away streak in the league to seven games (the last time they failed was against Cologne last April), with the only ‘blemish’ that they failed to find the second leg net after 14 straight league games that they had achieved.
FREIBURG: Flecks, Sildia, Ginder, Linhart, Gunder, Egstein (68′ Keitel), Heffler, Doan (81′ Sande), Kerech (Wu-Jeong), Grifo (82′ Weishaupt), Gregoric (83′ Pettersen)
Glandbach: Sommer, Scully, Friedrich, Weigl, Bensebaini, Kramer, Kone, Hoffmann, Neuhaus (34′ Minpole (83′ Sanchez)), Stiedl (82′ Wolff), Thuram
