According to the Athletic, Christopher Nkunku has signed a preliminary contract with Chelsea to join London next summer, with the Blues pledging to pay Leipzig more than his €60m release clause.

THE Christopher Enkunku Extended his contract with Leipzig last June and signed in Germany for the next four years.

However, according to Athletic, he is expected to be found in London next summer after signing a preliminary contract with Chelsea to join the ‘Blues’.

The publication said Chelsea have agreed to pay Leipzig an amount higher than the France international’s release clause, which stands at €60m.

The reason Enkuku will cost the Londoners more is that they want to secure his signing in advance and don’t want to wait until the summer when the clause goes into effect.

Signed from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, the 24-year-old forward has made 148 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, scoring 55 goals and providing 48 assists.

In addition to the first cup win in Leipzig’s history, the 24-year-old reached the semi-finals of the Champions League (2019/20) and Europa League (2021/22) with the Red and Whites.
