Bochum – Gladbach in the 17th Bundesliga game was finally stopped in the 71st minute when a home fan threw a can of beer at the assistant referee, who succeeded, hitting him in the back of the head.
Costas Stafilidis started the game as a key player, while Gladbach were up to that point 2-0 up thanks to goals from Plea and Empolo in 55′ and 61′ respectively.
Bochum explained in her contribution: “The game does not restart. Bochum – Gladbach was stopped permanently. We can only formally apologize to the line manager. A very embarrassing and bitter night for us. An extremely stupid move.”
