The DFL General Assembly rejected the planned entry of investors into the Bundesliga
The general meeting of the 36 first and second division clubs in Germany did not give the cooperative consent to start negotiations on cooperation with an investor.
For several weeks, the leadership of the DFL (Association of Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga teams) has been promoting investors to invest in German football.
The plan envisaged the sale of part of the television rights to an investor from outside the league in order to immediately flow 2.2 billion euros into German football. However, this plan was not implemented.
The general assembly of the 36 teams held on Wednesday (May 24) did not receive the “Ok” as required from 2/3 of the DFL clubs. This puts an end to plans for investors to get into German football.
“The process ended today. This is democracy” explained the CEO. DFL Managing Director and Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke. The vote was secret, but teams like Cologne and St. Pauli said “no”.
In the last few months, fans in German stadiums have been protesting against the DFL’s planned investment project.
There was concern that the investor joining the league would make decisions that would harm world interests (e.g. more expensive tickets, finals in other countries) and that this would also jeopardize the 50+ Rule 1 would . According to him, the majority of the shares belong to the club and thus also to the world of the team.

The German champion’s video featured Thomas Miller, Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Tsuppo-Moting, Tell and Sven Urlaich. Everyone happily sang birthday songs and shared best wishes.

Bayern: “The door to the European Super League remains closed, our task is to strengthen the championship”
Bayern insist they have not changed their stance on the European Super League, stressing that it is the duty of clubs to support their domestic leagues.
The European Super League added another big no, this time from German champions Bayern.
Following the decision of the European Court of Justice that the creation of the newly created organization is not illegal, the announcements from the European clubs follow one another.
Bayern CEO Jan Christian Dressen assured that the team would remain true to its original position and emphasized that it was their job to strengthen domestic competitions.

“We have taken the decision of the European Court of Justice into account. However, this does not change the position of Bayern and the ECA that such an event would represent an attack on the national leagues and the structure of European football.
The Bundesliga is the basis of Bayern, as all national leagues are the basis for other European football clubs.
It is therefore our duty and our deep conviction to strengthen them and not to weaken them. We are also involved in European competitions under the auspices of UEFA.
That’s why I would like to make it clear once again that the door to the European Super League remains closed to Bayern.”
