Marco Reus is leaving the Dortmund captaincy after five years
An era came to an end for Dortmund when the legendary Marco Reus decided to give up the captaincy.
Marco Reus has decided to give up the Dortmund captaincy. After much deliberation, the 34-year-old German midfielder informed Edin Terzic and the Technical Director of Westphalia about his decision during the holidays.
Last season Dortmund lost the league in the last game after committing suicide and Bayern celebrated again. Maybe that’s why he decided to take off the armband. Reus has been a member of Dortmund since 2012 and has been the team’s captain for the last five years.
“Friends of Dortmund, I have something very important to tell you. I thought about it a lot during my vacation and decided to give up the leadership armband. I have already informed the coach and technical director of my decision.
I have worn this armband with pride and honor for five years. Thank you for your support during this time. I am sure that a suitable replacement will be found for me“, says Marco Reus in his message.

Bayern: “The door to the European Super League remains closed, our task is to strengthen the championship”
Bayern insist they have not changed their stance on the European Super League, stressing that it is the duty of clubs to support their domestic leagues.
The European Super League added another big no, this time from German champions Bayern.
Following the decision of the European Court of Justice that the creation of the newly created organization is not illegal, the announcements from the European clubs follow one another.
Bayern CEO Jan Christian Dressen assured that the team would remain true to its original position and emphasized that it was their job to strengthen domestic competitions.
