Leipzig managed to break Lance’s resistance and buy Lois Openda for a record fee in its history.

THE Lois Openda will play for Leipzig in the new season after the Germans announced his purchase of Lens on Friday afternoon.

The Belgian striker, who enjoyed an impressive season last year, scoring 21 goals in 38 Ligue 1 games, was immediately targeted by Leipzig.

The French bought the 23-year-old international from Fitzgerald in the summer of 2022 for 11,800,000 and a year later repeatedly rejected offers from Leipzig until they settled for 43,000,000 including bonuses.

That amount is a record purchase for the German, surpassing that of Dominik Soboslay’s 2020 sale of 36,000,000, with the Hungarian holding the Liverpool sales record of 70,000,000 that year.
