Marie-Louise Etta became the first female assistant coach in Bundesliga history

The end of the partnership between Union and Urs Fischer paved the way for a woman on the bench of the Berlin club: Marie-Louise Etta.

THE Marie Louise Etta will be the first woman to coach a Bundesliga team as an assistant unionafter the dismissal of Urs Fischer.

The end of the partnership with the reformer of the Berlin club led to dominoes. The K19 trainer Marco Grote takes over the role and takes his assistant with him.

Eta was a player and won the Women’s Champions League with Turbine Potsdam in 2010. She ended her career in 2018 and became a coach for various teams at a young age.

Last spring she obtained her coaching diploma so that she could work in the Bundesliga, as the only woman in her department. In August, Grote was signed by the Union’s U19 team and brought Eta with him from Werder’s youth department.

Union will try to find a more permanent solution, but until then Eta will make history on Saturday 25th of the month when Union hosts Augsburg.
