Leipzig – Schachtjor 1: 4: Historic triumph in Germany

THE Shakhtar left the horrors of war behind for a while and headed to Germany for the Champions League Group 6 opener with a clear head. That 4-1 against Leipzig was the result of the extra performance of Igor Jovičević’s players, led by Marian Swed, who scored two goals.

The gaps they left didn’t turn into butter for the energetic visitors, who scored two more goals in Mihailo Murdik and Lasina Traore to celebrate a triumph against the odds.
