Champions League: UEFA had the anti-fan announcement ready days before the final
According to an exclusive report by The Guardian, UEFA had prepared the announcement against fans days before the Champions League final should there be a problem.
UEFA’s announcement to blame fans for delaying the start of the Champions League final was staged, according to an exclusive report from The Guardian and respected journalist David Cone.
The federation, on display at the Stade de France, shows a message about a delay in the arrival of fans at the stadium minutes before half-time of Real’s game against Liverpool, despite thousands of fans queuing in the stands.
“Due to the late arrival of the fans, the game will be delayed. More information will follow in 15 minutes at most.”was the message from UEFA.
The news was prepared well in advance, the Guardian reported in its in-depth article on the chaos in Paris, published on Wednesday.
It is recalled that around 15,000 Liverpool fans were blocked at the ticket offices and various checkpoints and banned from entering the stadium, with the turnstiles closed by police.
Authorities’ investigations have contradicted initial claims, including by the French government, after it emerged that the problem was not the counterfeit tickets preventing fans from entering the venue smoothly, but the lack of a plan by the authorities in charge.
