Anatoly TRUBIN: “We should have tried to save the team”
Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin shared his feelings from the Real Madrid match, where Pitmen lost 1-2 in the Champions League 3rd round match. The Ukrainian goalkeeper fired 11 self-shots at the Santiago Bernabeu, as a result of which he was recognized as Shakhtar’s best player in the game.
“It was a tough game for the whole team. We played against the best team in Europe. It was a very difficult game but a challenge for everyone. And an opportunity to see where you can improve your game and progress.
– Was it Benzema’s shots that were followed most closely?
– I will say that all the players in Real Madrid are of high class. If not Benzema, there are five or six other players. It was necessary to analyze everyone and try to save the team.
– Did you have time to talk to another Ukrainian goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, who defended the Real Madrid goal today?
– Not. We shook hands before the game and went to play.
He had less work.
– A little yes (laughs). We have to work before the second leg so that he has some more work.
– 11 saves is a serious indicator.
– I focus more on the fact that I couldn’t save and my mistakes other than the goals I conceded. I will not pay attention to savings, but, on the contrary, analyze what I failed to achieve.
