Celtic manager lists two factors essential to Champions League success
Celtic head coach Angelos Postekoglou talked about the team’s performance in the Champions League this season and what the Scottish club needs to be more successful in this tournament.
“We did nothing this year. I think we lost in a few areas that are still pretty obvious, especially in the last third of the area where it’s not so easy to fix things. However, no one can tell me that we are not competitive. If we continue to be competitive in all games and every year, one day we will find a sweet spot and be able to make a bigger impact.”
“The Champions League is a tough competition, the toughest club competition in the world no matter where you look at it, whether you spend money or not. You can’t be like us here – dominating after five years of absence. It just doesn’t work like that. It takes time and it takes time to constantly stay at that level and improve. it requires investing in the right ways.”
“But nothing is guaranteed, even with money and time… Because competition is not getting any easier. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be ambitious, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have goals and objectives for a club like ours.”
Recall that on Tuesday, October 25th, Celtic will host Shakhtar in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage.
