Sevilla – Copenhagen 3:0: The first home win this year secured their presence in the Europa League
Seville triumphed over Copenhagen 3-0 in the “Sánchez Pitjuán” with goals from En-Nesiri, Isco and Montiel in the second half and conquered the 3rd place which allows them to continue their European adventure through the Europa League.
Sevilla had not tasted the joy of victory in any of their first seven games at the “Sánchez Pitjuán” this year with a record of 3 draws 4 losses, but in their eighth straight game they not only broke the pomegranate, they broke out.
Copenhagen are their victim as Jorge Sampaoli’s side prevailed an impressive 3-0 after an hour of play. This result not only gave them their first win of the year in front of their home crowd, but also ensured their continuity in European competitions in 2023 through the Europa League.
It should be noted that this was Sevilla’s first win in this year’s Champions League and only their second in their last 13 games in top European club competition, while the Danes, on the other hand, remained goalless in their fifth game in the group stage.
The match
The first half in “Sánchez Pitjuán” failed to excite the crowd as each team had only one good chance, with the visitors first threatening Haraldsson (who was saved by Dmitrović) in the 22nd minute and the hosts with an inside shot from Suso “answered”. the area (Grabara blocked it with his fists).
The situation changed in the second half, however, as Sevilla got going looking for the goal (the draw actually favored the Danes) and found it in the 61st minute through Sampaoli’s first substitution En-Nesiri, who put the ball in the net sent a header after a header in the Copenhagen area from Papou Gomes.
Copenhagen then opened up to level the game and equalized with Barzi’s header from the top of the box which ended on the crossbar, with Sevilla still standing at that point and ‘finishing’ their opponent in the final minutes.
In the 88th minute, Suso made it 2-0 with an unimaginably deflected shot from the top of the box, and Montiel scored the 90+2 when, after a shaky save from Grabara, he rebounded from a Lamela shot and was awe-inspiring the final 3:0 in front of the Spanish audience.
