Yuriy BEREZA: “I want to hear the Champions League anthem at the Dnipro Arena”
Honorary President of SC “Dnepr-1” Yuri Bereza He commented after the Conference League match against Apollo (1:0):
“I couldn’t watch the live broadcast this time because they were attacking with the guys, ironing the cunning. But my soul was with the team as always. And the first thing he did right after returning from the fight was to watch Pikhalenok’s goal. Then I called him and thanked him.
First of all, it is very important that we have made a good contribution to the country’s coefficient in European competition. Also, it’s nice that they have increased their score significantly. This is an example of how far our youth club has come in 5 years. I said once that I wanted to hear the Champions League anthem at the Dnipro Arena. I think we are on the right track. I am very grateful to everyone who believed in this project in 2017 and shared the same thoughts.
First of all, I want to thank the team for their character and fighting qualities. Despite numerous infirmaries, our reserves (and it’s especially nice that they are Ukrainian reserves) have shown that they can claim to the future.
The coach “suddenly” passed away before the start of the season, but Dnipro-1 has already proven to be a great club. Whoever has doubts, but we are moving forward with sure steps. Currently in the European competition the team is making history and occupies a good place in the championship.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the opportunity to play in our stadium right now because of the freaks. But we play for the Ukrainians – especially on the eve, for the temporary resident in Slovakia – and look forward to the opportunity to return to the Dnipro-Arena. I’m sure our club will be as big as Dnipro’s hometown. I have said many times that I bow my head to FC Dnipro’s glorious history, but SC Dnipro-1 is a new club with a new history and we have everything ahead of us. His biggest dream and goal is to win the Champions League. I think this should be a normal desire of any club in Europe.
I also want to mention the Dnieper-1 episode – we are one with you! We will do absolutely everything for Dnipro-1 to play and win in Donetsk, Luhansk and Simferopol.
As for the upcoming Dnipro-1 match against Chornomorets, for some reason everyone perceives fair play differently. And it seems to me that there should be one for everyone. I have heard more than once that the Dnieper-1 was treated favorably. But I doubt it. We turned to Chornomorets twice with a request to postpone the game, but they refused.
Yes, everyone has problems and the Chornomorets are currently struggling in the standings. I understand all this and would love to personally come and request the transfer of the game, but I’m a little busy right now. Well, nothing – every failure (and in this case, failure might seem like they don’t want to hear us) makes us stronger. So let’s fight on the field.”
