Estigard scores for Napoli after a foul by Kvaratthelia but goal is disallowed by VAR
Napoli found the net after a Kvarachelia free-kick and an Estigard header, but Partenopei’s goal didn’t count. VAR reviewed the situation for four minutes and ruled out an offside position.
Napoli came out stronger in the second half of their tie against Liverpool at Anfield, scoring against Alisson in the 53rd minute after Kvaratthelia’s free-kick and Estiggard’s header.
However, he failed to celebrate the goal as technology denied Kvaratthelia his eleventh assist of the season and Estigard his second Champions League goal.
The VAR watched the (very difficult) phase offside for almost four minutes and ultimately did not decide, the goal scorer seemed to be exposed a few millimeters and it remained 0:0 to the delight of the Reds.
