Rangers – Ajax 1: 3: In the Europa League, Ayandas remains pointless for the Scots
Ajax performed the minimum possible task at “Ibrox” and formally secured 3rd place in the 1st group leading to the Europa League with a 3-1 win over Rangers, leaving the Scots as the last.
Ajax only expected to mathematically secure 3rd place and the Europa League and did so with a win 3-1 opposite in Glasgow ranger for his 6th matchday 1st group the Champions League.
‘Iandas’ scored twice before the half-hour thanks to Steven Burhouse and Mohamed Koudou and apart from a good Scots moment in between the game was a Dutch monologue.
Allan McGregor had a lot of work to do, but not as much as in Round 1 where he conceded four (unanswered) goals. Ajax were superior and trying to prove their scoring image wasn’t up to their potential.
Kundous was the most dangerous player, he sent the ball into the net and in the 2nd half the goal was disallowed for offside. At the end of the game, James Tavernier with a penalty and Francisco Conceição with a close-shot shaped the result.
The Dutch will prove themselves against a runner-up in the round of 16 in the Europa League play-offs and the Scots were eliminated from Europe without a point.
