Pilsen 2-4 Barcelona: Farewell to the Champions League with a win for the Blaugrana

Barcelona defeated Pilsen 4-2 in the Czech Republic to bid farewell to the Champions League with a win. Ferran Torres scored twice for Xavi’s side and Marcos Alonso and Pablo Torre both scored once. Tomas Hori scored both goals for the Czechs.

Barcelona bowed out of the Champions League with a comfortable double in the Czech Republic, beating Viktoria Pilsen 4-2. Xavi’s side finished the group with seven points and continue in the Europa League.


The Blaugrana took the lead in the sixth minute. Fati shot from the penalty area, Stanek couldn’t block the ball, he went on goal and Alonso sent the ball into the net from close range.


Pilsen almost equalised, but Čori’s header in the 21st minute was stopped by Pena’s left bar. The Catalans were superior and scored a second goal before the end of the first half. Rafinha with a wonderful pass found Alba and headed in Ferran Torres who sent the ball into the net from close range.


The Czechs came into play strongly in the second half and responded with a well-timed penalty from Hori in the 51st minute. The offense was a push from Torre through the area.


Three minutes later, the Blaugrana scored a third with a second own goal from Ferran Torres. The Spaniard traveled a few yards and combined nicely with Rafinha and sent the ball into the net with a nice placement.


In the 63rd minute, the Czechs shortened again. Vilcanova with a nice cross found Hori from the left and he sent the ball into the net with a nice header. The Catalans restored their dominance in the 75th minute. Rafinha provided another assist and youngster Pablo Torre sent the ball in with a superb finish.

The Czechs almost scored a third goal, but Girka’s shot in the 83rd minute was blocked by Pena’s crossbar. This was the last important moment in the game.
