Champions League: The teams that qualified for the knockout stages
Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht Frankfurt have taken their Champions League knockout round tally to 14 after a thrilling Group 4 final. Leverkusen and Sporting continue to play in the Europa League, Atletico and Marseille are from Europe.
Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht got two ‘tickets’ for the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday after the remaining groups were decided from matchday 5 onwards.
In an exciting final, the two teams beat Marseille and Sporting and secured their place in the last 16 of the tournament.
In addition, the Portuguese continue to play in the play-offs for the round of 16 of the Europa League, as does Leverkusen, who have taken over 3rd place from Atletico in Group 2. The Madrid players were prematurely eliminated from Europe along with Marseille after finishing 4th in their group.
In Group 1, a clean win saw Napoli sit first and second ahead of Liverpool (a 2-0 win wasn’t enough for the English), while a matching clean win in Group 2 provided the surprise, with Porto in the thick of the draw November 7th and Bruges to the underdogs.
