MYKHAILYCHENKO: “We thought we would score a point when we knew the opponents”
Shakhtar defender Bogdan Mikhailichenko He appreciated the performance of the Donetsk club in the Champions League:
“Of course, when we got to know the group, everyone thought we would score a point. But Shakhtar did not pay attention to this and went from game to game to score points. We did not think about where we would be – we just played. It so happened that there was even an opportunity to reach the Champions League. But in the last game we were weaker. That’s why I think the Europa League is a good result.
I remember two games with Real Madrid because you don’t play with teams like this every day. It was great to meet such players. I would like to say that the whole team struggled and competed. Is someone single? I would choose not one, but especially our young players who managed the team at that age.
Who would you like to compete with in the Europa League play-offs? I haven’t thought yet, I haven’t spoken yet. We have a very difficult schedule now, so the main thing is to pack up and prepare for the next game. Draw on November 7th. Of course, we want a team where we can play and move forward.”
Shakhtar’s potential opponents in the Europa League 1/16 final: PSV (Netherlands), Rennes (France), Roma (Italy), Union Berlin (Germany), Manchester United (England), Midtjylland (Denmark), Nantes (France), Monaco (France).
