Inzaghi: “Liverpool are among the two strongest teams in Europe”
Simone Inzaghi saluted his players for their performance against Liverpool despite the 2-0 loss in the final, stressing that the Reds are among the top two teams in Europe at the moment.
Inter were fiercely competitive for almost the entire game against Liverpool, in the opening game between the two sides at 16 of the Champions League, nonetheless the Italian champions’ final was disappointed as Meazza had conceded two goals from Firmino and Salah was now a foot and a half out of the tournament .
For Simone Inzaghi, however, his team deserve congratulations as they faced a tough opponent: “We hope we don’t always find Liverpool against us.
I congratulated the children, we definitely made a great game. I think Liverpool are one of the two best teams in Europe, my Inter looked them in the eye and we definitely deserved more.
Considering the opposition’s strength, I can say that Inter played their best game this season. Do I have any hopes of a rematch at Anfield?
Now let’s put that series aside because we have very important games to play in the league and cup“, stressed the Nerazzurri coach, which Edin Dzeko agreed with, saying characteristically:
“We played a great game for 75 minutes but these are the big teams, if they don’t punish you they score goals. It’s a shame we conceded goals from a corner kick because we’re strong in the static phases.”
We did our best, but it wasn’t enough and we leave with our heads held high, knowing that we gave it our all.
