Jurgen Klopp described both Liverpool goals very well, stressing that the Reds earned the win against Inter fair, while Virgil Van Dyke stressed they had a hard time bending the Nerazzurri.

Jurgen Klopp expressed his complete satisfaction with the Liverpoolers’ performance at Meazza and the 2-0 final against Inter which puts them in a strong position in terms of qualifying for the 8th Champions League.

“It was a game played at an incredibly fast pace. We started well, but then we had problems in defense because our full-backs were quite often alone.

In games like that you have to hold the ball more and we didn’t do that like we should. But you can’t come here just hoping to have a great night to get the result.

We didn’t have a great night, but it was good enough to be worthy winners. We scored two nice goals. I’m very happy with what happened, apart from the injury to Diogo Zota, who had to pull out with an ankle problem.

“He could have continued playing and that’s a good sign, but his ankle was swollen and we had to make the switch.” said Klopp, who was the first German coach to achieve 50 victories in the Champions League.

“We were ready for battle”

For his part, Virgil Van Dyke claimed Liverpool’s players knew they would suffer against Inter, which they did with the result – combined with the hard work – to achieve victory.

“This is a difficult place, we were ready to fight against a really good team. The atmosphere was amazing, I really enjoyed it.

Of course the static phases were very important, they are our strength. Overall we had a very compact look that brought us home a good result.

It was a deserved victory achieved through hard work. However, the qualifying case is not over yet, we have to be ready for the rematch.

We all expected that we would be under pressure because Inter are a very good team and because this is the Champions League.

We had to be willing to suffer, which we did. Happy Days “, said the Dutch skirt of the Liverpool defence.
