Liverpool: Van Dijk already in February, questionable for a real match
Virgil van Dijk’s injury is serious enough to keep him away for weeks and make him doubtful for Liverpool’s game against Real Madrid, according to Jurgen Klopp.
Jurgen Klopp was quite frustrated with his injury situation Virgil van Dyckwho revealed he is not expected before February, raising concerns about whether he will even reach the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Real.
The Dutch centre-back has been suffering from muscle problems since Liverpool’s game against Brentford, where he was substituted at half-time.
The first estimates spoke of an absence of weeks, with the German technician noting: “It was a bad diagnosis. We’ve been talking for weeks, more than a month, but I hope it goes quickly. We have other centre-backs.”
In January, Liverpool meet Wolves (home) in the FA Cup on Saturday, followed by league games against Brighton (away) and Chelsea (home). After a two-week break, the Reds face Wolves (away), Everton (home) and Newcastle (away) in the Premier League, with the game against Real at Anfield scheduled for February 21.
