Paolo Maldini has made it clear that Milan are already thriving in Europe this season, having surpassed their initial target while making it clear that they cannot be compared to Champions League pursuers Bayern, Real and City.

Milan are the second most successful team in Champions League/Champions League history after Real (14), they are the ones with the most trophies (7) but were not favorites against Tottenham.

Nonetheless, he managed to put the Londoners out of contention, keeping them clean in two games and earning them a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League to be among the top 8 teams in Europe for the first time since 2012.

“We can’t believe we’re in the top eight teams in Europe but we’ll try. We had lost confidence in January but the fact that we haven’t conceded a goal in two games against Tottenham shows the degree of maturity.” the team has achieved.” stressed Paolo Maldini in an interview with “Milan TV”, adding meaningfully:

“We are proud of the journey we have made so far. Our goal for this year was to finish in the top four in Serie A and get through the group stage into the Champions League.

It will be difficult in the league, but we have to get one of the top four.”

As for the squad, he would prefer the face of the Rossoneri in the quarter-finals with the semi-finals of Europe’s top club competition in the background, the Milan sporting director said:

“I would rather avoid the Italian teams because we want as many teams from our country as possible to go far in the competition.

It doesn’t matter who we’re up against at this stage, we can’t believe we’re on the same level as Bayern, Real Madrid and Manchester City.”
