Conte: ‘Leaving out of the Champions League is like winning the league’
Antonio Conte spoke about how important fourth place leading to the Champions League is for Tottenham, stressing that it would be tantamount to winning the Premier League at the end of the season.
Tottenham’s superb 5-0 win over Everton on Monday evening (7/3) boosted Spirunia’s morale as they reduced the gap to fourth-placed Arsenal to -3 points.
Antonio Conte, who recently stated that he might not be the ideal coach for the Londoners, stressed after his team’s emphatic victory that the goal of reaching the Champions League is visible and if that happens it is tantamount to that winning the championship.
“We have 12 games to go before the end of the season. In every press conference you ask me about the top 4 races.
I’ve told my players that it’s right that I take responsibility for it because I think we’re stronger since I came to Tottenham.
I think we can fight. We can fight for this goal. It is important to have that ambition and to hide it wrong. We’ll try to do everything and in the end we’ll see what happens.
You know, I don’t like to talk about ambitions because I like to play to win the championship and win trophies, but in this situation, this is the Champions League. “If we finish in the top four it’s like winning the Premier League.”
