Barcelona threatens to exit Champions League over Negreira case
According to El Confidencial, UEFA is considering banning Barcelona from next season’s Champions League for their involvement in the Negreira affair.

UEFA has announced that it will not punish Polish referee Szymon Marciniak in the Champions League final to be played between Inter and Manchester City (June 10, Istanbul).
The possible reason for Marciniak’s dismissal was his participation in the Everest conference, organized by the leader of the far-right Polish political party New Hope Slawomir Metzen.
Marciniak publicly apologized for attending this event:
“I was seriously misled and completely unaware of the true nature and source of the incident in question. I didn’t know it was about the Polish far right. Had I known this fact, I would have categorically declined the invitation. It is important to understand that the values promoted by this movement are completely against my personal beliefs and principles that I am trying to uphold in my life.
I would like to emphasize my unwavering support for the values that UEFA stands for, especially for inclusion and respect for all people, regardless of their background. These principles are central to the spirit of football and align organically with my personal beliefs. I also wholeheartedly condemn any form of hatred, discrimination or intolerance as it has no place neither in sports nor in society in general.
I also want to emphasize my commitment to the fight against discrimination in football. In the future, I promise to be more careful about learning about events and organizations I associate myself with. I am determined to learn from this experience and ensure that such judgmental errors are not repeated in the future.”

His participation in the final was in question as he attended a far-right conference in Poland and was the subject of allegations by anti-racism group Never Again.
The Polish referee apologized to UEFA and the respective teams, stressing that this had nothing to do with racism and anti-Semitism. Anti-racism groups reacting to his appointment urged UEFA not to revoke their appointment following Marciniak’s apology.
